Community Service

As part of our commitment to tailoring our program into preparation for baseball at the next level, the USA Mavericks are proud to partner with Operation Gratitude to help fulfill our yearly Community Service Commitment.

Operation Gratitude seeks to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of the U.S. Military and First Responder communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for Americans to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation.

Each Maverick player will be responsible to complete their Community Service Commitment prior to the start of their respective Spring/Summer baseball season.

Some of the high schools in our area have a mandatory community service requirement to graduate. Please check with your school as you can likely use this event to meet both the High School requirement as well as the Mavericks.

If you would like more literature regarding Operation Gratitude please reach out to Ryan Norton or you can visit their website at www.operationgratitude.com.

The Community Service Commitments will be as follows:

Ages 10U-13U - Letter Writers

Each player will be provided a Mavericks Letterhead to handwrite a ‘Thank-You’ Letter to a member of the US Military or First Responder. The finished letter will then be turned into the facility by the player so that we can confirm each player completed their Community Service Commitment.

These letters will be sent to Operation Gratitude combined with the efforts of the High School players to complete the Care Packages.

Ages 14U – 18U – Care Packages

Each player will be responsible to create (at least) two care packages that will be sent to a member of the US Military or First Responder. We will be holding a drive on Sunday February 3, 2019 to collect and assemble the items for the Care Packages. We will be foregoing practice(s) on this day to facilitate this drive.

The items for each Care Package can either be purchased by the player or can be obtained via donation but we want to make sure the player is responsible for their part in giving back to the community.

We expect all players to make every effort to attend this event.
