Who we are
USA Mavericks Baseball Club program is owned by Dave Hoyt. Our coaching staff consists of a number of former professional and collegiate baseball players including Brent Edmunds(Brandeis University), Luke Fernandes(Boston College), Gary Bryant(Bristol University, University of New Haven) and Ryan Coppinger(Canisius University) who now dedicate themselves to the development of young athletes.
The USA Mavericks Club is a member of the New England Elite Baseball League. We host public tryouts in August of each year for placement on our 10U-17U teams. Our winter training program runs from November through March at the USA Training Centers, and each team participates in a comprehensive schedule of games and tournament play during the spring season. USA Mavericks players are considered exemplary athletes with unique talent on the field.
Many USA Mavericks players go on to compete at the college level, most with academic and/or athletic scholarships. Over the last eight years, Dave Hoyt's extensive baseball networking experience has had a direct result in Maverick high school players being awarded a combined $9 million in academic and athletic scholarship money at colleges and universities around the country.
The USA Mavericks Baseball Club was founded in 2004 with one 13U team. Coached by Dave Hoyt, this team participated in the AAU National Championship Tournament in 2005 and 2006, and earned a ranking of #11 in the nation. The Mavericks organization has since grown to support over 160 top athletes in seven age divisions, 10U through 17U, as well as a summer collegiate team, the Seacoast Mavericks, a member of the Future Collegiate Baseball League(FCBL). By maintaining the highest standards for instruction and talent, USA Mavericks is recognized as the premier youth baseball program in New Hampshire and Southern Maine.
We believe that by providing exemplary instruction, a balanced training program, and the opportunity to compete at the highest level, we can develop a player's talent and abilities along a continuum of learning. USA Mavericks is a sports program, but not just a compilation of teams. Along with teaching the fundamentals of individual and team play, we emphasize the importance of character, sportsmanship, and respect. Maverick players are expected to be good students with the goal of academic success as well as success on the field. A strong work ethic both on and off the field is required.
USA Mavericks Baseball provides an off-season instructional program that includes a weekly two hour practice at our indoor facility as well as additional Infield, Catching and Strength & Conditioning training an evening per week. In the spring each team participates in competitive play against other teams within the New England Elite Baseball League. The number of games and tournaments is dependent upon age level, and most involve travel throughout New England and the East Coast. USA Mavericks players and their families are expected to make a commitment to the program and understand that participation in scheduled games and tournaments is mandatory. Our 10U and 12U program is specifically designed not to compete with local Little League and Cal Ripken spring schedules.
